General Objectives of the Project on Bilingual Education:
- To upgrade and update quality of Bilingual Education
(with either Sinhalese/ Tamil
as L1 and English as the link language in the Sri Lankan context)
- To enhance quality of learning and teaching material available for Bilingual Education
- To develop quality of continuing teacher education of the teachers of Bilingual
Education
- To motivate learners towards a bilingual learning culture
- To adapt learners for a self-directed learning culture within Bilingual Education
- To create interest in bilingual culture and value of bilingualism/ multilingualism
- To promote vocational interests and economic perspectives in global society
through Bilingual Education
- To gain feedback for design and development of Bilingual Education
