BACKGROUND :
With the implementation of the New Education Reforms, the establishment of a formal School Counselling Service has been emphasized. The NIE as the academic and professional arm of the MOE and its think tank is entrusted with the task of planning and implementing the activities pertaining to the new Education Reforms and equipping educators to face modern challenges. Hence the establishment of a Guidance and Counselling Unit at NIE was approved by the council in June 2006 to dedicate itself fully to meeting psychosocial needs in the education communities.

OUR MISSION :
Facilitate professionally trained teachers who are able to create learner friendly environments, have substantial knowledge and skills to guide the children and enrich their self esteem and self determination.
