The Objectives of the Course

• To enable participants to understand various approaches to second language teaching.
  
  
• To update the participants with significant developments in applied linguistics and related fields relevant to the teaching and learning of English in Sri Lanka.
  
  
• To assist participants in construction of a conceptual framework for language teaching and learning, in order to cope with the pedagogical procedures and practices they encounter.
  
  
• To provide participants with the skills and techniques essential for language teachers and trainers in the successful implementation of language practices in Sri Lanka.
